The GRAND DIDUPE Falls
Whenever We talk about Didupe we also add Ermayi Falls to it, Coz thats how close they are, its a treat for travel enthusiasts to get two water falls at this close and both with different Look and different formations.
First let me give all the guidance and everything related to the Trek for all those who are planning to visit them.
Best time to Visit : September – November ( as soon as the monsoon ends )
Things required :
- Identity proof for the forest entry in Didupe Falls,
- A car to reach till the Check post ( from there ur vehicle is not allowed, u have to make entry in the forest department and then jeep will be provided with an extra Charge till the trek start point )
- 300/- (200-forest entry, 100-jeep ride (may be the cost might have got increased not so keep more money)
- Normal shoes – as the path for both the falls are mussy, rocky – u require a good sole.
- Bottle – I mean water bottle ( for drinking )
- Camera – must and should, to show others that u went there.
- A gang – Always go to such places with ur squad – its safety also fun.

Kindly locate Ermayi waterfalls in your google map ( dont locate Didupe falls – as google gives a wrong route, from which u can reach to the falls only by jumping off the cliff ), from there mark Didupe falls – If u go from dharmasthala route then u got to cross Dharmasthala and then take right at the main Ujire gate and move towards Charmadi ghat – but u need to take a left Before Charmadi and around 30 mins from that left.
And if u are heading from Charmadi ghat the take right after crossing the Ghat section till then pls dont follow google map.
Once u reach Ermayi as per the google map dont go to the falls just go few more Kms on the main road and u will c “DIDUPE Village” just zoom the map u will find Kadamagundi waterfalls ( Didupe falls ). The trek for Didupe is around 30 mins and for Ermayi its just 10 mins so better complete Didupe first as it is tiring so reach before the sun gets terrific. Then head to Ermayi waterfalls. All the remaining tips will be giving with my narration, which may help u to plan better and that will also help me to make u read my story.
Lets get into my shoes,
For the second time we planned our journey to Didupe, yes this is the second time, because on our first trip we believed google map. We were a group of 5, Left from Bangalore on a September Night(dont remember the date), Left at 9PM on an OMNI van.
The ghat section was covered with fog, and we were not ready to trust the Van so thot not to take any risk further so we halted at an abonded Bus stop next to the highway. Too cold and i was the only guy who doesn’t smokes or drinks in the gang so i was feeling more cold than others, collected some wet sticks, after lot of struggle the sticks started burning ( Bear gryll Feel ).

Sat there quietly, star gazing but no stars, stars were there but no visibility so literally it was Cloud gazing. before we could take much pics with the bon fire the bonfire went to sleep

The Squad – always ready for Adventure, all my trips are possible because of these people keeping the whole journey memorable & entertained.
It was Midnight, the Fog got cleared, we continued our journey by morning 7 AM we reached Didupe Village. We took right into the village towards the waterfalls on our Omni, the whole road was filled with gravels and hard rocks, still we moved around 500mts and then we realised the road is not suitable for OMNI. But it was too late, now we were stuck in that road and we were moving nowhere, we stopped our vehicle there and packed our bags to start our trek, thats when the forest officer caught us and asked the forest department permission slip which we were not aware of and then he gave us the slip by charging as per govt standard. And he even guided us by marking a map behind the slip to reach the Falls. we went another 1kms by walk and then we reached the trek point. But if u get a jeep u can reach till here by jeep without any difficulties that to without burning ur pocket.
From the starting point of trek it was another 1KM to the falls, the map didnt help us much and we moved parallel to the stream for which the origination was didupe.
Best Advice: once u find the stream, cross the stream and move parallel to the stream and stay to the left side of the stream, after few mins the path will take u a little diversion from the stream, u have to follow the pathway which goes towards top, a little higher to the stream but through out u will be able to view the stream so keep moving wihout getting confused. Even we did the same and we were not scared coz we love to get lost in the Wild.
Finally u will hear the Falls sound and slowly u will get the VIEW, its not just a view, a gateway to Heaven.

If u got this the u r not lost, just keep moving, u r already watching the Rain falling from the heaven, without any sound, pure white, a wide view full of flowers adding more beauty to it. Dont get to the Falls, first admire, just Admire, Even south India is Blessed with these kind of falls – one of its kind.

You cannot capture the whole view, its not that easy to freeze a waterfall in the camera – just go and see.
We went near to the falls, the falls was literally slow, u can directly stand under it and u can stay there without getting hurt. The mobile got wet so we didnt get any further closer shot.

NO CAPTION
All of a sudden U forget ur past, u forget where u came from, U forget all your stress, U lose all your Ego, all your problems looks small – thats what nature is capable of – whenever u feel Big it shows ur place and u start realise that u just belong to the nature, This is ur place all the life which u were living till now was theactual trip which u had taken and now finally u completed all ur trip and came back to your Home.
“No matter how Busy u r always visit your home once in a while – It could be your real home( ur family ) or the Forest ( which is actually where all of us belong to )”
